Our Story

A desire and a vision for something different

During vacation Bible school, a mother's desire for a Christian education for her children sparked a vision for an affordable, faith-based public school alternative for our community. A local church family answered the call, and God quickly provided the resources to begin.

Miss Lillian taught a handful of students that first year, 2017. She was the first of many teachers over the years who committed to volunteering time, resources, and energy for the joy of teaching and discipling students in Los Angeles.

He Remains Faithful

Back in the second year of LARCS, Miss Ruthann painted a simple reminder for her classroom wall: “He remains faithful.” Her handiwork, having survived eight years and several moves, continually finds its way into each year’s décor. These three humble frames cradle one glorious truth that we cling to here at our little school.

And we’ve glimpsed God’s faithfulness so often–through financial provision in an expensive city when it seems impossible, through courage to navigate the complexities of a pandemic, through answered prayers uttered by earnest students during class. Whether it’s teachers praying for rent money or a young girl asking God to show her a lizard on a field trip, God’s faithfulness points to His goodness.

We exist to provide academically-excellent education while pointing students and their families to Jesus through discipleship.

Now in our tenth year, our mission remains unchanged.

Rooted in the local church

We operate in close partnership with New Life Church, which gathers every Sunday morning in East Los Angeles. This relationship grounds our work in a broader community of believers committed to serving our neighbors.

A dedicated nonprofit board guides our long-term vision, working alongside our local administrative team and church leadership to ensure we remain faithful to our founding purpose.
